Overview Logos Space is a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite system purpose-built to serve the connectivity needs of commercial enterprise users and government users. We will help fill an important gap in the market, providing resilient, high-performance satellite-based connectivity services to enterprise and government customers worldwide. Logos is designed to extend cloud and data center network connectivity anywhere in the world to fixed, seaborne, and airborne terminals. Logos Space is led by a team of experienced engineers with proven track records in the networking and satellite industries.

Position Summary The Mechanical Engineering team at Logos Space works on design, development, flight validation, assembly, integration, test, and inflight success of the Logos fleet of spacecraft. The team also develops the required facilities and ground support equipment. Mechanical engineers support both bus and payload activities from idea to flight. You should be prepared to thrive in a fast-moving environment and translate vague design ideas into tangible hardware ready for test and flight. We are seeking engineers who love to solve hard problems.

Responsibilities

Analysis & Modeling

Develop detailed thermal models of spacecraft components, subsystems, and integrated systems using industry-standard software (e.g., Ansys Thermal Desktop, NX Space Systems Thermal, FEMAP/NASTRAN).

Perform comprehensive thermal analyses (steady-state, transient, worst-case) considering various orbital environments, attitudes, and operational modes.

Correlate thermal models using test data to refine analytical predictions.

Hardware Design & Implementation

Design, select, and specify passive thermal control hardware (MLI, radiators, heat pipes, coatings, fillers, doublers).

Design, select, and specify active thermal control hardware (heaters, thermostats, sensors, fluid loop components).

Oversee procurement, manufacturing, and integration of thermal control hardware.

Work hands-on with technicians and integration teams during build and testing phases.

Testing & Validation

Develop detailed thermal test plans and procedures for component, subsystem, and system-level testing, including TVAC and thermal balance tests.

Provide oversight and hands-on support during thermal hardware integration and testing activities.

Analyze test data, troubleshoot anomalies, and correlate thermal models to test results for validation.

Collaboration & Documentation

Collaborate with Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Power, Propulsion, and Avionics teams to define thermal requirements and interfaces, ensuring system compatibility.

Prepare and present comprehensive thermal design documentation, analysis reports, and test reports for internal reviews and milestones.

Stay current with advancements in thermal control technologies, materials, and analysis techniques.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field with a strong emphasis on thermodynamics and heat transfer.

3+ years of professional experience in both:

Thermal analysis and modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., Ansys Thermal Desktop, NX Space Systems Thermal, FEMAP/NASTRAN).

Thermal hardware design, selection, integration, and/or testing within aerospace or spacecraft industries.

Solid understanding of heat transfer principles (conduction, convection, radiation) and thermodynamics as applied to the space environment.

Proven ability to translate analysis results into practical hardware solutions.

Familiarity with spacecraft thermal control hardware (passive and active).

Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, NX) for geometry manipulation and interfacing with thermal models.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and hands-on technical skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to work effectively in a team.

Proven track record of working with software or hardware systems through the entire product life cycle, from conceptual design through deployment and operations in a team setting.

Self-motivated with strong organizational and communication skills; leadership qualities preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Master of Science (MS) or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on thermal sciences.

5+ years of direct experience in spacecraft thermal design, including detailed analysis and hardware responsibility.

Hands-on experience with thermal hardware integration and leading thermal vacuum (TVAC) testing campaigns.

Demonstrated success in correlating complex thermal models with empirical data.

Familiarity with programming languages (Python, MATLAB) for scripting, data analysis, and automation.

Experience across different mission phases and orbital regimes (LEO, GEO, Deep Space).

Ability and willingness to attain a Top Secret Clearance.
