Senior Manufacturing Engineer

to join their team. This is a high-impact role for a high precision machining company. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in new product development and process optimization for mission-critical components in regulated industries. As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing and refining manufacturing processes for complex, high-performance parts. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and serve as a technical liaison to key customers, ensuring the successful launch and continuous improvement of both new and legacy products.

Location : Buffalo Grove, IL

Key Responsibilities

Lead process development for intricate components utilizing EDM Wire Programming (Wire EDM), CNC Milling, and advanced grinding techniques.

Drive new product introduction (NPI) and process development initiatives, ensuring robust, cost-effective, and high-quality manufacturing solutions.

Serve as the primary technical contact for customers, managing engineering communications and facilitating change requests.

Oversee the requalification and restart of legacy products, developing timelines and ensuring timely execution.

Define machining strategies—including tool paths, fixtures, and EDM parameters—to optimize quality, throughput, and cost.

Collaborate with quality, operations, tooling, and vendor teams to deliver engineered production solutions.

Lead or participate in root cause investigations, process improvements, and initiatives to enhance yield and reduce cycle time and scrap.

Mentor junior engineers and support operator training on new or revised processes.

Utilize CAD/CAM systems (such as Mastercam and SolidWorks) for programming and process verification.

Support customer audits, first article inspections, and documentation for regulated manufacturing environments.

Qualifications and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.

5+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering within regulated industries (Aerospace, Gas Turbine Power, Automotive, or Medical Devices).

Demonstrated expertise in EDM Wire Programming (Wire EDM), CNC Milling, and process development.

Strong customer-facing communication skills and experience.

Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks).

Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Familiarity with ISO, AS9100, or similar manufacturing standards.

Experience with CNC Milling and machining of superalloys.

Exposure to legacy product restarts or reverse engineering.

Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement certifications.

Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish) are a plus.

Compensation and Benefits Compensation Range:

$90,000 - $105,000

Benefits Offered:
