Mechanical Senior Project Engineer - Mission Critical Facilities The MCF (Mission Critical Facilities) Senior Project Engineer, Mechanical guides the technical design of data center projects as subject matter expert, mentor, and resource to the technical team. Position delegates, leads, and directs work of Project Engineers and Designers. The role conceptualizes, executes, and ensures quality throughout the design process to meet clients’ needs and expectations. The Senior Project Engineer will have Supervisor and Mentor responsibilities for junior staff and act as a resource to other project engineers. This position is open to any location with a Stantec office presence for the right candidate, aside from preferred locations listed. Responsibilities

Assists the business development team in new project pursuits by providing input on RFPs/RFQs and participates in project interviews and presentations. Manages technical project process and scope of work within own discipline; reviews and tracks scope, schedule, and budgeted hours; resolves inconsistencies with the project manager. Delegates tasks to project engineers and designers within own discipline as appropriate. Follows quality management process; conducts project reviews and approvals before all QA/QC reviews by the technical authority. Builds and maintains strong client relations; articulates project and design requirements, progress, challenges, and troubleshooting to clients and technical staff. Leads technical discussions and mechanical workgroups with project stakeholders as trusted advisor, identifies key requirements, and adapts design to meet project objectives. Coordinates with all disciplines to fully integrate work and client requests into design. Acts as supervisor and resource to the technical design team; supports staff education, training, and development. Participates in the data center engineering/professional community to stay up-to-date with new requirements and technologies; engages in meetings, seminars, conferences, or writing articles for trade magazines. Identifies opportunities to improve and standardize project deliverables across Stantec MCF business centers. Contributes to development of design guides, technical memos, calculation templates, etc., as they pertain to data center design. Your Capabilities and Credentials

Extensive experience in mission critical/data center design concepts. Experience on large-scale projects with varied stakeholders. Comprehensive knowledge of engineering practices, concepts, principles, codes, and standards in own discipline and basic knowledge in other disciplines. Strong problem-solving skills; able to conceptualize and develop solutions for multifaceted systems. Strong communicator who conveys scope, schedule, and budget to clients, co-workers, and technical teams. Adept at writing comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Proficient in applicable software (Autodesk, BIM 360, Revit, Trace 700); working knowledge of hydraulic modeling (Pipe-Flo) and CFD (Fluent, 6Sigma) preferred. Knowledge of construction processes and interaction with design; able to analyze, solve problems, and train others; detail-oriented and collaborative. Able to independently resolve complex problems within the engineer’s discipline. Education and Experience

Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required. Minimum 10 years related industry experience preferred. Mission critical / data center experience required. Registered professional engineer (PE) license or other professional certification based on expertise required.
