Develops design solutions for assigned structural products and components. Interact closely with engineering staff to refine design concepts and track progress. Take ownership of design responsibility for significant portions of projects. Develop solid models, layouts, sketches, and drawings of parts and assemblies, and investigate design factors such as damage tolerance, durability, and structural modeling. Participate in design reviews and integrate feedback from engineering analysis, test results, and customer input. Support configuration control through proper use of PLM tools (Windchill, Teamcenter). Detail structural assemblies, mechanisms, and devices. Validate conformity to design standards and specifications, identify design errors and deficiencies, and recommend changes. Provide documentation, identify design issues, and make technical design presentations to engineering staff and customers as required. Maintain working knowledge of CAD techniques and engineering design software applications and design standards such as ASME Y14.5 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), MIL-STD-100. May direct the activities of less experienced designers and support staff. Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever business is conducted on behalf of the Company and work in a safe manner in accordance with established procedures. Additional duties as assigned or required. Qualifications

Typically requires an associate degree or a certificate indicating completion of training in NX/Siemens, ProEngineer/CREO, or SOLIDWORKS design software, plus ten or more years of progressive CAD experience, with at least two years using one of the listed software packages; additional education may substitute for work experience. Strong command of Product Lifecycle Management tools such as Windchill and Teamcenter. Understanding of engineering design concepts and principles with the ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply them in an evolving environment. Ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases. Ability to determine appropriate approaches at task or project level to provide solutions; strong problem-solving skills. Good communication, documentation, presentation, interpersonal skills, and computer proficiency. Ability to work independently and as part of a team and to work extended hours occasionally as required.
