Senior Mechanical Engineer Location:
Irvine, CA or Sacramento, CA (Hybrid – 3 days onsite) Employment Type:
12-Month Contract (contract to hire) We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a strong background in HVAC system design and building automation systems (BAS) to join a small, specialized engineering team. This role focuses on individual design work, taking projects from concept through construction documents, while also engaging with clients and project teams to deliver high-quality solutions. Responsibilities: Lead HVAC design for remodels (60%) and new construction (40%) projects. Develop mechanical designs from concept to construction documents, including load calculations, equipment sizing, and system layouts. Produce and finalize drawings using Revit and AutoCAD. Incorporate plumbing design knowledge to support HVAC systems. Coordinate with internal engineers, consultants, and clients to ensure project success. Engage with clients onsite to discuss project requirements, explain design intent, and ensure satisfaction. Deliver projects of varying size and complexity. Experience & Background: 5+ years of mechanical design engineering experience with a strong focus on HVAC. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field (architectural, healthcare, facilities, or industrial engineering with strong MEP focus). Experience in BAS and familiarity with plumbing design. Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD (ALTA/KAD). Strong client-facing skills, able to communicate clearly and effectively onsite. Proven ability to take a project from concept through completion with minimal oversight. Comfortable in a hybrid work environment (3 days in office).
