Optical Technician
Location
12406 Tesson Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO 63128
Work is primarily in a standard office or clinical setting; travel to other locations may be required to perform essential duties.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Embrace and execute our Total Patient Experience to build relationships with all patients while delivering great medical support
Determine patient wants and needs and selling to exceed expectations
Assist patients in selecting frames according to style and color, coordinating frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions
Operate the auto-lensometer and manual lensometer
Educate and recommend specific lenses, lens coatings and frames to suit patient needs
Accurately collect measurements such as bridge, eye size, temple length, seg heights, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and pantoscopic tilt
Dispense patient orders and perform repairs/adjustments for frames
Dispense all glasses and/or contact lens orders using current process
Qualifications
Previous medical office experience preferred; previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred
Minimum of 1 year in a role interacting with customers/patients or the equivalent combination of education and experience
Favorable result on background check as required by state
Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States
Education And/Or Experience
High school diploma or GED required
Licenses And Credentials
ABO and NCLE certifications preferred but not required
Systems And Technology
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
Physical Requirements
Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%), with bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%)
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
Fine motor skills and use of hands for grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology
Visual and auditory acuity, color perception, depth perception, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment required 100% of the time
Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary
