The pay range is $68,800.00 - $148,600.00. Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position, including labor markets and, in some instances, education, work experience and certifications. Simulation Engineer – Key Responsibilities
Demonstrate understanding of mechanical systems/designs and material flow across various inbound and outbound processes in a warehouse.
Understand performance of material flow systems using advanced computer-aided technologies such as discrete-event simulation and material flow analysis.
Support design engineering team with data related activities, such as mining, organizing, cleansing and reporting.
Identify internal databases, extract relevant data and present data in the appropriate format for usage by team members.
Support simulation team with model development, analysis and experimentation.
Build isolated simulation models to mimic the flow of freight for workstations, work cells and process modules.
Analyze data output from models, interpret results, document and communicate results.
Collaborate effectively with design, automation, visualization and simulation teams.
Leverage simulation standards to reduce project completion times by enabling consistency in modeling and analytics.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing or Systems Engineering.
1+ years of combined experience in material handling, automation, manufacturing, supply chain and/or distribution and logistics industries, or an Advanced degree in Engineering.
Analytical and organizational skills to effectively operate in the design engineering team.
Demonstrated ability to concurrently work on multiple aspects of a project in a highly variable and uncertain environment.
Knowledge of material flow and discrete-event simulation modeling using 2D/3D commercial software.
Experience in advanced Excel, data visualization and basic statistics to communicate results.
Previous experience using Python, R and SQL.
Effective verbal and written communication to various levels within the organization.
Ability to solve problems using technical skills under conditions of ambiguity with possible lack of data.
Ability to travel up to 10% (varies by project phase).
Preferred Qualifications
Working knowledge of building and running material flow and discrete-event simulation models using 2D/3D software.
Basic working knowledge of C or C++.
Knowledge of material handling systems in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
Knowledge of material flow methodologies including sequencing, kitting, repack, etc.
Knowledge of lean, six sigma and other continuous improvement concepts and methodologies.
