Electrical Engineer (Instrumentation - Aircraft) at Systems Application & Technologies Inc. (SA-TECH) in Maryland. SA-TECH is a DoD contractor supporting range operations, testing, and DoD programs with a focus on aircraft instrumentation and data processing for flight test data operations. At the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division in Patuxent River, MD, SA-TECH supports the Aircraft Instrumentation Division (AID) of the PIE Department. We are hiring an Electrical Engineer to serve as a technical specialist responsible for the design, development, construction, and test and evaluation of complex Special Flight Test Instrumentation (SFTI) systems and subsystems, with expertise in data processing hardware and software. This engineer acts as a technical authority on SFTI data processing and performs the research and development to provide complex hardware and software for flight test data operations. The role includes investigating commercial hardware availability to advance aircraft data acquisition capabilities and advising customer leadership and senior staff on technical matters related to aircraft testing and data processing. You will create and manage processes and procedures for customer personnel to perform post-flight data processing using knowledge of airborne data acquisition, processing systems theory, and operations. The basic duties of the position include (but are not limited to): Responsibilities

Support VX-23 Platforms, in particular the FA-18 and EF-18G. Instrumentation system design, integration, calibration, and flight support. Manage small to medium instrumentation projects including cost, schedule, and performance. Instrumentation includes design, programming, and build of the instrumentation through ground and/or flight tests by performing pre-flights, post-flights, recalibrations, flight support at the ground station, data validation, and data playback. Other duties as assigned. Work Conditions

Most work will be performed in enclosed buildings. Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting, and reaching. Must be capable of lifting 50 lbs. solo and 50-100 lbs. assisted by others. Working hours are 05:30–15:00 or 06:00–15:30. Occasional flex hours and overtime may be required. Periodic travel may be required. Education/Experience/Skills

High School diploma or equivalent. Two to three (2-3) years of relevant experience would be highly desirable. A degree with intern experience is acceptable. Experience with flight test instrumentation related to design and programming to collect, store, and transmit data to meet customer needs. Recent experience with flight test instrumentation and related programming and validation tools is desired (not required). Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Microsoft SharePoint. Current Driver’s License; must be able to be insured under the company vehicle policy for driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours and for the duration of employment. U.S. Citizenship required and the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to hire and to maintain a Secret clearance throughout employment.
