Job Description
Civil/Structural Engineer 2 (Design) – Protingent Staffing has an exciting direct hire opportunity that is fully remote. Responsibilities
Civil/Structural Design within the Plant Engineering Group, performing civil structural analyses and design of Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures, applying technical knowledge, insight, reasoning, and decision making. Use structural engineering tools and implement appropriate standards to design Nuclear Safety-Related and Non-Safety-Related structures, including post-processing analytic results and designing structures for various material types (concrete, steel, etc.). Interdisciplinary collaboration to coordinate design activities and resolve technical problems; possess or acquire general knowledge of related fields to function on multi-disciplinary teams. Develop and review requirements documents, methodology documents, calculations, specifications, design reports, and studies. Communicate effectively with contractors and regulatory bodies (strong written and oral communication skills). Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited school is required; an advanced degree is preferred. A registered professional engineer license (P.E.) is strongly preferred. Minimum of 2 years of full-time relevant experience as a Structural Design Engineer; advanced degree may be considered in lieu of experience. Design and analysis of structures (concrete and steel), use of design software, and finite element method analyses. Preferred codes: ASCE 43, ASCE 4, ACI 349 & 318, ASCE 7, IBC, and AISC N690, Steel Construction Manual, Seismic Design Manual. Use of ANSYS, LS-DYNA, and SAP2000 is not required but preferred. Programming skills (e.g., MATLAB or Python) are not required but preferred. Strong understanding of engineering concepts, excellent organizational and time-management skills, and ability to manage complex projects with multiple phases. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including presentations and technical writing. Job Details
