Responsibilities Learn semiconductor plasma equipment engineering, manufacturing methods, either deposition or etch. Experience with hands-on design, operation or maintenance of radio frequency power supplies, matching networks, vacuum and gas delivery systems. Design and work with RF circuits, probes/sensors and systems for high-frequency (kHz to GHz) data acquisition of voltage, current, impedance signals used on RF generators and match networks used for plasma etch, plasma deposition, or remote plasma processing equipment. Conduct simulation, analysis, and modeling of RF circuits using Multiphysics, CAE or other types of simulators like Comsol, Cadence, Ansys, SPICE, etc. Prototype, test, and validate RF hardware designs in laboratory environments. Collaborate with PCB designers to ensure RF layout guidelines are followed for optimal performance. Characterize and optimize RF components such as amplifiers, filters, spectrum analyzer ADC’s, and other power/data acquisition components. Work closely with embedded firmware engineers and software engineers to create source code, algorithms, and user interfaces on hardware that is developed. Perform system-level integration and testing of RF subsystems. Generate documentation including schematics, PCB layout guidelines, test procedures, and design verification reports. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in RF hardware design. Experience: 3-5 years’ experience with RF Plasma applications in semiconductor or related electronic materials/device manufacturing using low-medium energy RF and/or microwave plasmas highly desirable Experience in RF data acquisition, RF power control hardware design and development, gas/plasma related materials processing equipment. Hands-on experience with RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, etc. Some proficiency in RF simulation and design tools such as Comsol, Cadence, Mentor, Ansys, SPICE, etc. would be a plus. Familiarity with PCB layout techniques for RF and high-speed data acquisition circuits, Mentor Graphics or Cadence schematic capture and PCA-PCB layout experience preferable. Familiarity with RF regulatory compliance standards (FCC, CE, etc.). Familiarity with safety best practices related to electrical energy, ionizing radiation, pressurized gas systems and hazardous chemistry. Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or related field. Master’s or PhD degree preferred, and 5+ years of engineering experience related to the semiconductor industry
