What The Role Entails The Senior Construction Project Manager is responsible for overall project success, including project oversight, direction, and strategy over multiple $300+ million data center construction projects, with a focus on safety, schedule, scope, budget, and quality within CloudHQ’s portfolio. The Sr. PM will be adept at strategic planning, team leadership, project management oversight and implementation, and will have strong technical aptitude in construction processes and procedures as well as the installation of electrical and mechanical systems. This role leads the execution of the construction process and ensures the safe delivery of on-time, on-budget CloudHQ projects. It is a results-driven leadership role, partnering with general contractors and trades for aligned project success and mentoring on-site staff. The Sr. PM manages customer expectations and relationships with facilities operations throughout the project regarding schedule, delivery and turnover to the client.
What You Will Get to Do
Prime leadership role for an extended team of professionals to safely deliver major capital construction projects. Develop and maintain relationships with key customers, operations, Finance and internal department leaders to ensure the project team fulfills the mission and objectives of the capital projects.
Provide direction and support for scopes of work, project delivery resource requirements, cost estimates and budgets, work plan schedules and milestones, quality control, and risk identification.
Oversee General Contractors, direct contractors (e.g., Commissioning Agents), third-party testing agencies, the project controls and MEP teams, and track timelines to ensure milestones are met.
Act as primary liaison to the CloudHQ Design Manager with Architects/Engineers and consultants to ensure preconstruction and construction activities are coordinated in a timely manner (e.g., submittal approvals, RFI responses).
Integrate Subject Matter Experts and stakeholders to support design, and lead construction teams to create a master development program for sites.
Support Design leadership for environmental, entitlement and permitting requirements.
Lead project delivery resources and teams, provide project guidance, implement a communication plan for meetings and written reports/minutes to keep client and project resources informed.
Develop and implement strategic sourcing plans for GC/subs and specialty vendor selection, award and contracts.
Facilitate project meetings and ensure governance of project documentation, data integrity, and timely coordination.
Report status and variances; create action plans to meet objectives, budget and schedule; manage change through the change management process and assess impacts of change requests.
Identify and mitigate project risks with contingency plans as needed.
Optimize project cost-effectiveness and budget utilization, including constructability reviews and value engineering.
Lead project-level management tasks including contract status, finance/funding, budget updates, schedule baselines, submittals, contract documentation, records, and final hand-off.
Develop and implement project-level financial controls, pay applications, change reviews and pricing, retention releases, claims, and resolutions.
Ensure drawings and specifications reflect the desired construction quality and that remediation is completed to owner satisfaction.
Ensure field installations comply with the design and maintain highest quality safety standards on site.
Monitor and manage risk, insurance and liability controls for assigned projects.
Lead typical construction management meetings (OAC, Design, MEP, ACx, etc.) and present executive summaries to internal Senior leadership.
Provide on-site support for sales and marketing to present CloudHQ values to prospective clients.
What You Bring To The Role
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management or relevant field experience required.
Minimum of 15 years’ experience in General and/or Specialty Construction Project Management with 10+ years’ experience in data center or similar mission-critical facilities construction.
Experience managing $300M+ projects and in urban environments with difficult logistics and fast-track schedules.
Experience in construction management, capital budget management, and knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
Knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards including fire protection regulations.
Strong capability in Primavera, MS Project, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
Understanding of Project Management, Planning, Construction Management, and Data Centers.
Demonstrated leadership with Owners, Architects, Contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Extensive knowledge of prime contracts (lump sum, GMP, hard bid, negotiated, design-build, etc.).
Knowledge of P6 Critical Path scheduling, project cost control, budgeting, and value engineering in data center delivery.
Familiarity with site work, core/shell, mechanical and electrical systems, utilities, finishes, etc.
Ability to work in an international team and interact with all management levels, including C-Suite.
Strong executive presence with the ability to convey complex concepts to a non-construction audience.
Very organized, analytical, and structured with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Also Possess
LEAN Construction knowledge and application.
Building Environment Accreditations (e.g., LEED, SITES, TRUE, WELL).
Leadership in mechanical and electrical systems quality and commissioning for mission-critical facilities.
Experience in mission-critical, infrastructure, and/or data center construction.
Multi-project experience in large-scale construction management; mission-critical or infrastructure preferred.

Able to hear and speak into a telephone; close visual work on a computer terminal.
Dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other instruments; able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Work location on-site in Ashburn, Virginia with periodic travel to secondary sites or main offices; 80% on-site, 20% office environment with varying temperatures and noise.
Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.
