Overview
The Hampton Inn Norfolk/Chesapeake is seeking an outgoing and energetic Chief Engineer with strong attention to detail to lead its engineering team. The hotel offers 118 well-maintained guestrooms and a positive work environment. The Chief Engineer ensures all aspects of the hotel are maintained in accordance with Hilton brand standards at all times. Responsibilities
Coordinate and execute a guestroom preventative maintenance program. Handle all maintenance-related guest complaints, issues, and requests. Perform major equipment repairs and maintenance, including but not limited to laundry and kitchen equipment, pumps, motors, air handlers, cooling towers, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, and operating equipment (vacuums). Perform repairs in guestrooms (e.g., broken cabinetry, sofa frames, major appliances, mirrored sliders) and complete building exterior repairs and shop projects as assigned by the General Manager. Hire, train, and schedule all engineering department employees. Follow hotel purchasing SOPs to order supplies and materials in accordance with the monthly departmental budget. Provide on-call response to building issues on a 24/7 basis. Perform preventive and routine maintenance on major equipment (e.g., laundry equipment, cooling tower, PTAC units, pumps, and motors). Conduct daily pre-shift meetings with engineering staff to assign work duties and projects. Maintain files and logs on inspection reports, PTAC maintenance, and guestroom preventive maintenance. Ensure all hotel components are maintained in accordance with Hilton Brand Standards. Complete miscellaneous projects as assigned by the General Manager. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities. Significant experience with all maintenance. Good mechanical troubleshooting and analytical skills. General handyman skills. Excellent attitude and maturity to work with limited supervision. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; specific vision abilities required. Education & Experience
Education – High school diploma required. Professional tradesman certification in at least one discipline: electrician, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, or carpentry. Experience – Five years in related field preferred. Two years' experience as a head or Assistant Chief Engineer in the same or similar environment. Benefits & How to Apply
