Job Summary The CAD Drafter / Designer position is a solid foundation for a career in architecture, process equipment/piping design, and facility design. The role creates drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software in 2D and 3D formats for mechanical, electrical, piping, plumbing, and equipment layouts on food and beverage process facility projects. The role requires knowledge of architectural concepts, practices, regulations, standards, and building materials. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsibilities
Create design drawings with CAD software in 2D and 3D formats under direction of engineers and senior designers
Coordinate with Designers, Architects, Engineers, and Project Managers to produce design drawings per project specifications
Design architectural drawings, mechanical/electrical/plumbing drawings, P&IDs, equipment layouts, and piping plans
Analyze information to determine and plan the best approach to develop and complete design drawings
Ensure drawings comply with building regulations and architectural standards
Prepare documents to meet set quality standards while maintaining project schedules
Develop and coordinate small drawings sets
Collaborate with client and engineering disciplines to define requirements for design and construction documents
Check finished drawings against markups and CAD Standards
Manage multiple tasks and meet established deadlines
Work with BIM360, Navisworks and MS Office (Outlook, Word and Excel), AutoCAD 2020 and Plant 3D
Assist construction managers with coordination issues in the field
Research CAD drafting / designing best practices
Support talent growth within our organization
Required Education, Skills And Experience
Associate Degree is required. A bachelor’s degree in an engineering-related field is preferred.
1-5 years of work experience or schooling in CAD for food and beverage processing facilities or similar production facilities
1-5 years of work experience or schooling in AutoCAD
1-5 years of work experience or schooling in Plant3D, CADWorx or similar programs
Revit, Inventor experience is a plus
Experience with design of Food and Beverage processes is a plus
Travel to client construction sites is required, not less than 20% of the year
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
Travel Requirement
Up to 20% travel required to visit project site and other offices
