Overview
Maintenance Engineer role at Driftwood Hospitality Management. Primarily responsible for the overall maintenance of the hotel’s building and grounds and for the operation of its equipment and mechanical/electrical systems. The position aims to keep all equipment in good repair with minimal downtime by providing day-to-day maintenance and completing maintenance work orders from all departments in a timely manner following the hotel’s standard operating procedures. Responsibilities
Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and other equipment throughout the hotel. Performs preventative maintenance on a scheduled basis (e.g., room care). Services the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters; completes maintenance request forms and records logs. Maintains the building exterior and curb appeal (e.g., lawn care, painting, gardening). Adheres to all company policies and procedures. Follows safety and security procedures and rules; knows department fire prevention and emergency procedures; utilizes protective equipment. Reports unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage or loss to supervisor. Maintains a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules. Maintains a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (standards outlined in team member handbook). Assists other Engineering Personnel when needed. Performs any related duties as requested by supervisor/manager. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of maintenance trades, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical and carpentry. Basic mechanical aptitude for operation and repair of hotel equipment. Ability to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems and act accordingly. Willingness to comply with hotel policies and procedures including appearance, grooming, safety, security, key control and emergency procedures. Skilled in HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywalling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping. Ability to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in hotel systems and equipment. Proficiency with basic hand and electric tools and familiarity with parts and materials. High school diploma or equivalent; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered; high school diploma preferred. Thorough knowledge of the layout of the building, sleeping and function rooms. Excellent communication with internal and external customers; ability to remain patient, tactful and diplomatic. Ability to listen, speak, read and write English clearly. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, remain flexible and maintain a pleasant demeanor. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Physical Demands
Ability to stand, walk or sit and perform essential job functions for the duration of the shift. Work in hot, cold, and wet conditions; ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, and climb on various surfaces. Hearing and visual ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations. Ability to climb stairs and ladders up to 30 feet in the air. Grasping, lifting and handling tools with good finger dexterity. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and walk significant distances between and within buildings; lift up to 100 pounds. Frequent movement including bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling. Benefits
