Sr Dry Etch Equipment Engineer

— Micron is seeking a hands-on Dry Etch Equipment Maintenance Engineer to directly support semiconductor fabrication by performing advanced tool maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization. This role is embedded in the fab environment, requiring extensive experience with vacuum systems, RF power delivery, and gas delivery systems. The engineer will lead preventive maintenance efforts, respond to tool-down situations with urgency, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve chamber performance, reduce defects, and support process conversions. Success in this role depends on technical expertise, precision, and a proactive approach to sustaining high-volume manufacturing operations. Responsibilities
Perform hands-on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and recovery on TEL Dry Etch equipment to ensure optimal tool uptime and performance. Conduct training sessions for technicians on TEL tool operation, maintenance procedures, and excursion awareness. Coordinate weekly PM schedules and align maintenance activities with area constraints and current WIP levels. Monitor and manage spare parts inventory, including TEL-specific components, and coordinate procurement with buyers. Optimize TEL chamber configurations to meet RF trigger thresholds and improve First Run Metrics (FRM). Collaborate with TEL vendors to enhance chamber reliability, process stability, and consumables management. Diagnose complex equipment issues using systematic troubleshooting techniques and provide recovery plans with accurate ETAs. Support cost reduction initiatives by identifying opportunities to lower repair and maintenance expenses. Assist Process Owners with TEL process conversions, chamber matching, and defect reduction strategies. Participate in SPC/FDC initiatives to improve process control, reduce tool alarms, and minimize excursions. Minimum Qualifications
3+ years of hands-on Dry Etch Equipment Maintenance and/or Engineering experience. 3+ years working in a semiconductor cleanroom/fab environment. Strong understanding of vacuum systems, RF power delivery, gas delivery systems, and chamber hardware. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience. Proven ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize complex semiconductor equipment. Preferred Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on Equipment Engineering experience working on TEL Dry Etch toolsets in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues, driving improvements in TEL tool performance and reliability. Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines while adapting to changing fab priorities and conditions. Strong proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., JMP) and factory automation systems, with the ability to generate data-driven problem statements and identify embedded correlations. Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of working effectively across engineering, production, and vendor teams. Details
