The County of Riverside's Animal Services Department is seeking Per Diem Veterinary Surgeons to join our team. Duties include performing physical exams, administering anesthesia and medications, and performing sterilization surgery and immunizations on small animals.
Other responsibilities include supervision of paraprofessional staff, training and advising staff in proper care and treatment of animals, and maintaining control of medical and surgical supplies to ensure adequate stock for the clinic. Using appropriate medical equipment, perform sterilization and other surgeries; administer anesthesia and medications as needed. Perform immunizations on animals for disease control. Perform postmortem exams to diagnose or find pathological conditions, ensuring community health. Maintain control of medicinal and surgical supplies. Ensure all office equipment and supplies are maintained at adequate levels; prepare and submit requisitions as necessary. Supervise staff to ensure clinic work is performed properly; instruct, train, and advise staff in animal care, including euthanasia of dogs, cats, birds, and livestock. Assign and review work of staff; respond to inquiries from the public and department employees regarding clinic activities. Maintain records of clinic activities; prepare reports and correspondence. Education: Graduation from an accredited veterinary school with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. License: A valid veterinary license in California. Applicants without a license may be appointed if they obtain one within 12 months of hire. A valid California Driver's License is required. This recruitment is open to all applicants.
