The OB/GYN Physician will provide primary and specialty medical services to patients of Northwestern Obstetrics and Gynecology, adhering to established standards and practices. Responsibilities include diagnosing, treating, and preventing diseases of women, with a focus on reproductive systems and childbirth. The physician will provide care in the outpatient setting with no call or weekend requirements. Job Summary

Pre-requisites
Education:
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school. Valid Vermont medical license (or willingness to obtain) Board Certification or eligibility in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Special Skills:
Commitment to providing compassionate care and excellent patient experiences. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills

VP and Chief Ambulatory Officer, Physician Practices and Chief Medical Officer

Medical Staff members, patients and patients’ families, public, case managers, agencies, and hospital employees.
Scope
Machinery or Equipment Used:
Diagnostic equipment including but not limited to Ultrasound Unit, Computers, Electronic Health Records.
Physical Demands:
Extensive sitting, walking, standing, reaching, talking, feeling, eye/hand coordination, near and far vision, color vision, lifting objects to waist and overhead, pushing/pulling objects, ascending/descending stairs, kneeling, exposure to electrical hazards, machinery, poor lighting, dust/dirt/noise, slippery surfaces.
Working Conditions: Potential for danger to life or health in dealing with violent/infectious patients. May be exposed to unpleasant patient or department conditions. Subject to high stress of multiple calls/demands/interruptions and crisis situations.
Required Protective Equipment:
Ergonomically correct computer equipment, as well as PPE required on a case by case basis to perform appropriate patient care (eye protection, face protection, goggles, mask, gown, non-sterile medical gloves and sterile medical gloves).
Essential Functions
Provides diagnosis, treatment, consultation and follow up for patients seen in Northwestern Medical Center’s OB/GYN Office. Completes timely History and Physical and documentation Orders appropriate lab and diagnostic procedures and studies Interprets and integrates data to deliver appropriate therapeutic goals Utilizes referral services when appropriate Provides education to patients on both acute and chronic care of condition. Works in an independent and interdependent relationship with members of the medical staff, which allow for consultation, collaboration and referral. Implements medical care within their limits of privileges. Perform obstetric and gynecologic surgical procedures as needed to preserve patients' health and medically manages other OB/GYN medical conditions. Prescribe or administer therapy, medication, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury. Effectively communicates with the patient and the family/support system about the treatment plan, resources and required follow up care. Utilizes the hospitals electronic health record by appropriately documenting all patient interactions. Maintains legible, accurate and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnosis, procedures, treatment outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with hospital policies and procedures and regulatory agencies. Provides Direct and Indirect medical supervision as needed to allow the PA/NP to carry out his/her duties as an Advanced Practice Provider. Actively participates in hospital committees and maintains both a collegial and independent relationship with members of the medical staff and Hospital employees. Observes usual requirements of medical staff membership such as compliance with bylaws, rules and regulations, and meeting attendance. Actively participates in Medical Staff Peer Review Process Regularly attends department meetings and medical staff committees. Demonstrates support of and assists with the execution of service line development and process improvement initiatives. Partners with other departments of the hospital to ensure efficient flow of patients and cost savings. Works as a team to establish best practice consistent care protocols which are evidence based. Improves OR productivity by maximizing OR start times and block utilization. Participates in team-based care including pre-visit planning in collaboration with patient and clinical staff; participates in population management initiatives; utilizes motivational interviewing communication skills to facilitate patient self-management action planning for improved patient behavior change; and supports and provides evidence-based patient education.
