Labor & Delivery RN Job Details
Location: Chicago, IL 60612 – Prime city location for Illinois nursing jobs with access to cultural attractions and Lake Michigan. Assignment Type: Travel nursing contract (Locum tenens) Unit: Labor & Delivery, Recovery & Observation Ward Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/2/2025 – End: 12/2/2025) Shifts: 3x12-hour nights (19:00 – 07:30), every other weekend required Hours per Week: 36 guaranteed Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020 - $2070 Floating: Mandatory float facility; may float to other hospital units within nursing scope Charting System: Cerner EMR Scrub Color: Navy Blue Parking: $2/day at JTDC with shuttle service
Registered Nurse Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of recent high-risk (Level 3) OB nursing experience Active Illinois Registered Nurse license (must be in hand upon submission) BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate certifications required AWHONN Advanced certification preferred COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (no COVID exemptions; flu medical/religious exemptions only) Ability to float to other units as needed Responsive and able to meet compliance deadlines Local candidates accepted (must live within 75 miles of facility)
Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients in a high-volume, high-acuity setting Assist with high-risk deliveries and circulate for C-sections Perform triage of obstetrical patients and sterile vaginal exams Administer and monitor antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate therapy, and heparin drips Maintain central lines (CVC/PICC) and perform intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC) placement and calibration Implement isolation precautions and PPE protocols Recover C-section patients and manage high-risk antepartum cases Float to other units within scope as required to meet facility needs
