Overview
As an MRI Technologist, you perform the technical aspects of MRI/MRA with quality and proficiency, demonstrate job knowledge by selecting correct acquisition parameters, and collaborate with radiologists to ensure proper examinations and diagnostic results. Responsibilities
Perform daily calibrations and record results. Select appropriate coil to reduce noise, increase signal and maximize resolution. Review physician orders with the radiologist to ensure the proper examination and diagnostic results are obtained as required. Ensure the safety of the patient, assess their condition to determine proper handling and any special requirements. Obtain and review patient history, explain procedures to patients/families, and answer questions to ease anxiety and assure patient cooperation. Recognize clinical and/or emergent problems that may interfere with the exam and take appropriate action. Demonstrate safety and knowledge in administering parenteral contrast agents. Acquire and evaluate patient lab values (when applicable) to ensure they are within normal limits (e.g., BUN, Creatinine, Pregnancy, Glucose). Disinfect and maintain equipment, exam rooms, and work areas; inspect equipment for hazards and report any dangerous conditions. Maintain supply levels and perform quality control checks. Maintain sterile technique, practice aseptic techniques, and adhere to hospital policy on body substance isolation. Input and verify data in PACS/RIS systems. Observe and monitor patient vital signs and medical equipment during radiographic procedures. The Must-Haves
