Position Summary The Director of Nursing at CCC administers the nursing program as a department of the hospital in alignment with the CNO/COO, in order to maintain standards of patient/resident care; advises management, patient/resident care staff and hospital CEO in matters related to nursing service. Recommends establishment or revision of policies and develops organizational structure and standards of performance in alignment with Tenet standards. In collaboration with the hospital CNO/COO, interprets policies and objectives of nursing service to staff and community groups. Develops budgets, integrates with hospital guidelines and complies with Balanced Score Card targets.
Primary Duties
Establishes departmental policies and procedures.
Participates on committees and provides direction for the facility.
Assumes leadership role for daily operations and takes appropriate action.
Rounds on residents, nursing staff, and families daily to ensure good outcomes. Supervises nursing managers and provides direction.
Demonstrates the ability to coordinate response to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner.
Prepares operational and capital budget annually.
Attends care conferences to ensure coordination of resident needs.
Participates in facility monthly CQI and Quarterly CCC meetings with appropriate P.I. goals.
Meets regularly with the medical director and other staff physicians to ensure proper communication is maintained.
Ensures that communication with the Acute Hospital is accurate and cooperative.
Markets the facility by phone, visits, and distribution of brochures at least monthly.
Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Physical Demands
Frequent standing/walking
Occasional physical effort (lift/carry up to 25 pounds)
Frequent reaching, stooping, bending
Frequent sitting and computer use
Occasional kneeling and crouching
Working Conditions
Exposed to primarily office temps and conditions
Minimum Education/Certification/Experience
Associate degree in Nursing, BSN preferred
5 years of experience as an RN in a SNF or acute care setting
3 years of experience as a nurse manager
Current RN License
Current CPR certification
