Overview The Research Department at Alnylam is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Principal Associate Scientist to join our interdisciplinary team focused on advancing extrahepatic siRNA delivery and our mechanistic understanding of RNAi biology across tissues, specifically skeletal muscle, heart, and kidney. The role requires a strong background in biological sciences and technical skillsets in in vitro cell culture as well as molecular and biochemical assays. Prior experience or a willingness to learn in vivo rodent work is strongly preferred. We seek someone who will flourish in a goal- and timeline-oriented collaborative environment and be able to rapidly learn new topics and experimental techniques. This position is lab-based

onsite

and will be primarily located in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

The candidate will engage in a variety of mechanistic in vitro and in vivo siRNA research efforts to evaluate RNAi compounds, utilizing biochemical, molecular, and cell-based assays.

Design, execution, interpretation, and troubleshooting of experiments on an individual basis as well as part of a collaborative team.

Presentation of results in both written and oral format to key stakeholders within the Research organization.

Qualifications

BS/MS in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field with 6+ (BS) or 4+ (MS) years of work experience, preferably in industry setting.

Prior experience and/or working knowledge of nucleic acid-based therapies (siRNA, ASO, CRISPR) is highly desired.

Proficiency in mammalian immortalized and primary cell culture (maintenance, transfection/stable selection).

Proficiency in DNA/RNA sequence evaluation and plasmid design.

Proficiency in routine molecular biology assays to support evaluation of siRNA activity (qPCR, Western Blotting, ELISA, Ago-immunoprecipitation, etc.).

Prior experience with advanced cell models, including generation and/or CRISPR editing of iPSC-derived cell lines would be highly valuable.

Molecular biology assays to support evaluation of siRNA activity (qPCR, Western blotting, ELISA, Ago-immunoprecipitation, etc.).

Experience with (or willingness to learn) in vivo rodent handling and experimentation is a plus.

Excellent lab technique and ability to work independently.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) are required.
