Overview

WSP is seeking a Renewable Energy Electrical Engineering Assistant Vice President for our Irvine, CA office. The following locations will also be considered: Los Angeles, CA; Riverside, CA. This opportunity involves being part of our Renewables team in the West. Responsibilities

Provide high level technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, impact assessment, permitting, design, development, and construction of commercial and industrial scale projects in the public and private sector. Research, design, concept development, planning, and detailed design for construction of renewable energy generating facilities (solar photovoltaics, BESS, microgrids), power distribution, power regulation, and protection and control systems across utilities, transportation, buildings, and Federal, State, and local government projects. Develop electrical models and reports for detailed electrical design for a wide range of project sizes for the commercial industry (multifamily, mixed use, education). Substantiate reports and documentation to advise on material, installations, design, component, and construction specifications. Ensure responsibilities are delivered with quality meeting or exceeding industry standards for design, safety, and functionality. Coordinate, review and approve electrical infrastructure design plans for smaller and less complex projects, ensuring data integrity and compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, and regulations. Apply high-level electrical engineering techniques to identify improvements across project phases including concept development, preliminary design, final design, procurement, construction, and operation. Perform professional electrical engineering work related to single-line and three-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, general arrangement, schematics, cable schedules, and grounding schematics per applicable standards. Plan and incorporate future-ready techniques, equipment sizing, cabling, AC/DC panel design, and conduit/trenching strategies to ensure safety and functionality. Review electrical calculations for loads, equipment sizing, grounding potentials, short circuit study, protective device coordination, one-line diagram development, and protection elements. Develop and review plans, specifications, cost estimates, construction safety and phasing plans, and updating electrical infrastructure layouts that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients. Manage design and construction of electrical infrastructure projects from inception to completion, including new construction, renovations, site development, equipment layout, and construction safety plans. Oversee cross-functional teams to execute project work on mid-level and multiple concurrent projects, including budgets, hours and expenses, task completion, material/labor cost, calculations, permit applications, and regulatory memos. Prepare data visualizations, tables, charts, calculations, cross-sections, and other illustrations for interpretation of complex data and analyses. Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, concepts, and recommendations to improve, prevent, or address design and construction issues. Maintain high quality and responsiveness to client requirements in line with industry standards. Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers related to electrical modelling and simulations. Analyze data from field investigations and contribute to action plans for moderate- to high-level risk mitigation activities. Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner. Collaborate with professionals on projects funded at Federal, State, regional, and local levels, as well as on proposal and business development opportunities. Remain current in latest electrical engineering techniques and practices. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. 10+ years of relevant post-education experience as an electrical engineer providing design deliverables for capital projects in power generation and distribution at utility, industrial, or commercial scale. Engineer license preferred. Proficient with electrical engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and permitting and project work-related issues. Extensive knowledge of infrastructure design and familiarity with renewable energy system design. Knowledge of adjacent disciplines such as electrical, structural, mechanical engineering and energy modeling (Title 24). Experience with electrical infrastructure planning, design, and construction management across rehabilitation, new design, and construction projects. Knowledge of relevant engineering and electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements. Ability to perform technical computations, read plans and specifications, and compare to regulations. Ability to plan and conduct inspections and investigations on construction and design in compliance with applicable regulations. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences. Self-led with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment. Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and lead junior team members, with QA/QC adherence. Proficiency with design software (e.g., Helioscope, PVsystem, EnergyToolbase, BIM360, Revit, AutoCAD and other Autodesk products), office tools, and data analysis. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation abilities. Experience coordinating and directing subcontractors to complete tasks safely and efficiently. Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP health, safety, and harassment policies. Willingness to travel as project requirements may demand. Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs. Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Engineering. NABCEP certification. Experience managing large projects with multiple engineers. Compensation and Benefits

WSP provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement savings, paid sick leave, paid vacation, parental leave, and paid time off for bereavement, voting, and naturalization proceedings. Compensation range for this role is $133,400 - $180,200. The company reserves the right to adjust pay based on qualifications, geographic location, and internal equity. About WSP
