is looking for a highly organized, customer-focused
Financial Accounting and Grants Manager
(Transit Section Manager) to join our team. This position will lead the financial accounting and grants administration functions for Metro Transit, ensuring that the Public Transportation Fund is appropriately reported. This role will work under the guidance of the Assistant General Manager of Finance & Administration for Metro Transit. As a mobility agency, Metro moves hundreds of thousands of people in our region every day, helping them get to their destination. Financial Accounting and Grants Manager
(Transit Section Manager). In addition, this selection process may be used to generate an eligibility pool for future Career Service, Special Duty Assignment, and Term Limited Temporary vacancies that may occur in this classification within this workgroup. The eligibility pool will be retained for 12 months from the date of posting and may be used at the discretion of the hiring authority. Oversee administration of grants and financial accounting for the Metro Transit Department. Oversee the preparation, implementation and monitoring of financial statements and grant reporting. Oversee capitalization of fixed assets and the annual asset inventory process. Analyze and interpret legislation and ensure financial statements and related reports comply with changing requirements. Ensure the financial accounting activities for Metro Transit are accurate and timely. Identify and assess department projects/programs with grantor requirements; participate in developing revenue planning for grant funding for capital and operating programs. Identify and assess policy and procedural issues and make recommendations to management on courses of action. Manage the work of staff, including recruitment and selection, discipline and termination, work assignments, employee development and performance evaluation. Serve as the agency contact for federal, state and other granting agencies. Lead agency response to state and federal program audits. Required Qualifications
Experience leading teams of technical experts Knowledge of grants management and administration Knowledge of financial accounting techniques and principles Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and techniques Knowledge of auditing and internal control techniques and principles Knowledge of project management techniques and principles Analytical skills Skill in policy analysis and design Desired Skills or Knowledge
Experience with FTA triennial reviews Experience with public transportation grants and financial statements All Metro Transit Section Managers will also have the following skills and abilities

This position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not overtime eligible. Employees are paid on a bi-weekly schedule, every other Thursday. Work hours are comprised of a 40-hour work week within core hours of workday, normally 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Union Membership: This position is not represented by a union. Class Code: 113004/ Transit Section Manager Work Location The work performed in this position is conducted in a hybrid office environment. Section Managers will be required to be on-site a minimum of three (3) days / week. The primary onsite location is the King Street Center located at 201 South Jackson Street, Seattle, WA. Teleworking Requirement The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly in a hybrid work environment. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within areas able distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
