High School French Teacher for NYS Checkpoint B level, using comprehensible input to inspire scholarly growth in interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational communication while exploring cultural practices, products, and perspectives. Create standards-aligned curriculum and content Teach academically rigorous and culturally relevant lesson plans, materials, and assessments daily, with differentiation as needed Communicate effectively with scholars, families, and staff Contribute to school-wide systems, structures, and procedures Promote equity by ensuring resources, opportunities, support, and classrooms are accessible for all stakeholders Analyze instructional and cultural data to improve teaching practices and student outcomes Foster a positive, structured, results-oriented, and engaging learning environment for students with diverse needs Participate in school community responsibilities and professional activities (lunch duty, dismissal, hallway duties, daily homeroom, advisory groups, staff meetings, professional development, and office hours) What You’ll Need
Passion for education and commitment to Coney Island Prep’s mission, anti-racism, values, and beliefs Belief that all students can achieve at high academic levels and deserve opportunities to succeed in college and career Bachelor’s degree and NYS teaching certification required; Master’s degree strongly preferred (we offer $2,000 towards Master’s degree and NY State certification within two years) Cultural competencies to work in low-income communities and willingness to examine beliefs and biases Strong organizational, oral, and written communication skills; timeliness; accuracy; and ability to meet deadlines Culturally responsive conflict resolution skills suitable for age-appropriate environments Self-reflection and openness to feedback with growth mindset Positive, solution-oriented attitude and commitment to excellence Collaborative team player Ability to build positive relationships with families, students, and staff and demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusivity Who are we?
Coney Island Prep High School is a college preparatory, public charter high school in the Gravesend neighborhood of Brooklyn. Since its founding in 2013, CIPHS serves about 350 students in grades 9–12, with strong college acceptance outcomes and a range of AP and College and Career Readiness opportunities.
