Facilities Electrical Engineer I/II (Entry Level)

Location: US-CT-Groton | Seat Location: EB Groton Shipyard | Trade: Engineering | Shift: 1st | Security Clearance Required: Secret | Number of Openings: 1
The Electric Boat shipyard is experiencing a period of unprecedented growth, with existing facilities undergoing renovations and new buildings under construction with more to come. Now is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a part of a dynamic team responsible for shaping the future of the shipyard.
The Groton Facilities Engineering department is seeking an electrical engineer to provide maintenance and troubleshooting support for the 100+ year old Groton shipyard and local sites, as well as designing and executing infrastructure construction projects.
Responsibilities Project management responsibilities include engineering and developing the scope of work, preparing bid documents, vendor selection, funding procurement, preparing purchase requisitions, in-field project management of vendors and EB personnel while maintaining the project budget, schedule and project documentation.
Candidate should be familiar with electrical distribution systems up to 35KV, including substations, switchgears, transformers and underground duct banks. Knowledge of submarine shore power requirements as well as state and local building codes is desired.
Candidate will interface with local city building officials as well as Naval oversight. Candidate must be self-motivating, able to work independently, possess good written and oral communications skills, maintain a questioning attitude, as well as be proficient technically with a willingness to continuously learn.
Qualifications Requirements:
Bachelors of Science Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering
1 - 5 years of experience in electrical engineering
Preferred:
Experience in facilities engineering, plant engineering or construction is desired
Skills
Candidate must be self-motivating
Able to work independently
Possess good written and oral communications skills
Maintain a questioning attitude as well as be proficient technically with a willingness to continuously learn
Proficient in MS Office
Microsoft Projects proficient
Physical Qualifications Climbing, Crawling, Stooping, Twisting
