The Sr Engineering Manager leads the engineering function in our Spartanburg location. This position includes process improvement, capital projects, equipment reliability and technical support for operations, reporting directly to the Site Director. This role is responsible for developing and executing engineering strategies that improve safety, quality, productivity and cost efficiency while supporting growth in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The Senior Engineering Manager will partner closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, Supply chain and R&D to ensure world-class coffee manufacturing and packaging performance.
Shift and Schedule:
This is a full-time permanent position working on 1st shift. 1st shift hours are flexible. Responsibilities : Leadership & Strategy: Lead and develop a team of engineers and technical professionals, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Provide strategic direction on equipment, technology, and automation investments to support business growth. Drive alignment of engineering goals with corporate objectives for efficiency, sustainability, and quality. Operations & Process Engineering: Oversee the optimization of coffee roasting, grinding and packaging processes to ensure consistency, throughput, and yield. Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM methodologies to improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) and reduce downtime. Partner with Maintenance to establish robust preventive and predictive maintenance strategies. Capital Projects & Technology: Lead capital project planning, budgeting, and execution for new lines, plant expansions, and major equipment upgrades. Manage external contractors, vendors, and integrators to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective project delivery. Evaluate and integrate new technologies (automation, robotics, energy efficiency) to improve competitiveness. Quality & Compliance: Ensure engineering solutions support compliance with food safety (FDA, FSMA, SQF/BRC) and environmental regulations. Knowledge and Skills:
Demonstrated supervisory, organizational and interpersonal ability. Ability to problem solve and multitask. Basic understanding of labor and federal regulations. SAP manufacturing applications and strong computer skills. Strong communication and leadership skills. Demonstrated understanding and proven implementation of TPM/5S. Aptitude for hands-on work coupled with analytical skills. Ability to solve problems via advanced technical knowledge, complex analysis and theory testing. A record of success in implementing lean manufacturing concepts for continuous improvement (TPM/5S). Experience with spending most of the time on the manufacturing floor. Total Rewards: Compensation:
