Principal Structural Engineer
to join our Buildings and Places Structural Team in Los Angeles, CA. This role follows a hybrid work model with in-office requirements. Our structural team is dedicated to creating efficient, innovative solutions for structural systems, ensuring comfort and sustainability in every project. We support heavy construction projects that require unique problem solving, design of specialized equipment, and development of complex phasing, while also providing traditional design services for buildings, transit stations, industrial facilities, tunnels, water/wastewater facilities, and dam structures. Our engineers deliver value through innovative solutions and quality designs, utilizing BIM for collaboration through design and construction. Projects include buildings, transit stations, industrial facilities, and water/wastewater structures. Explore some of our signature projects. What You’ll Be Challenged To Do
We are looking for an experienced, motivated
Principal Structural Engineer
who thrives in a collaborative team environment. The role emphasizes a customer-focused mindset and a passion for delivering exceptional quality and results on every project. Responsibilities include participation in a wide variety of buildings, transit stations, industrial facilities and water/wastewater structures. Responsibilities include: Perform and check structural design and analysis computations. Prepare construction plans for a wide variety of building/vertical structures. Develop contract documents such as plans, details and specifications. Perform structural calculations in accordance with the Building Code and applicable amendments. Review construction documents such as shop drawings or contractor requests. Perform structural observations on site for existing and new structures. Prepare summary and detailed reports using clear and succinct writing. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to entry-level engineers. Provide management and leadership for entry-level engineers directly reporting to you. Perform finite element modelling. Perform project management activities for structurally lead projects. Demonstrate detail-oriented skills in steel and concrete design. Apply diversified knowledge of engineering principles, building codes, materials, equipment, and construction techniques. Organized, self-starter with ability to multi-task and adapt priorities based on client requests and workload. Education & Experience
What You Will Bring To Our Firm Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering required; Masters preferred Professional Engineer (PE) license required Minimum of 15 years of experience as a structural design engineer on buildings, water/wastewater structures, and/or transit projects Minimum 5 years of experience as a structural lead, team lead, people leader, and/or project manager Familiarity with software: RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Structural System, RAM Concept, STAAD, Mathcad, TEDDS and/or other structural analysis/design tools Experience with REVIT Preferred Structural Engineer (SE) certification preferred Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this role is
$130,000 - $170,000 , dependent on experience and geographic location.
