Senior Electrical Engineer - (Hybrid)
Contract to Permanent $60ph-$80ph Overview: As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the design and development of patient temperature management devices. Serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you will provide technical leadership across design, development, testing, analysis, and troubleshooting in the complex field of medical devices. This is more than a technical role—it’s an opportunity to influence the direction of their technology and business. You will help push the boundaries of patient temperature management, mentor engineering talent, and drive innovation that will define the future in healthcare. Key Responsibilities Innovate and Collaborate
– Generate design concepts and foster a culture of creativity, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. Lead Electrical Design
– Drive the electrical design and development of new medical devices, subsystems, and components. Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration. Testing and Verification
– Develop and manage testing protocols for electrical systems. Validate performance, functionality, and safety in alignment with internal requirements and external standards (IEC 60601-1). Hardware & Firmware Development
– Design and implement hardware and firmware solutions, leveraging expertise in microcontrollers, sensors, power electronics, and analog/digital circuits. Risk Management
– Conduct risk analyses, implement mitigation strategies, and ensure hazards are addressed early in the design process. Regulatory Compliance
– Ensure compliance with FDA guidelines, ISO 13485, IEC 60601-1, and other medical device safety standards to support regulatory submissions. Technical Leadership
– Mentor junior engineers, share best practices, and guide cross-functional teams. Lifecycle Support
– Provide electrical engineering expertise from concept through commercialization, including post-market product support and manufacturing collaboration. Documentation
– Maintain clear, detailed design documentation, test protocols, and technical reports. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in medical devices. Proven ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and test electrical designs. Advanced knowledge of microcontrollers, power supplies, motor control, and PCB schematic/layout (Altium Designer or similar). Hands-on experience with lab tools such as oscilloscopes, function generators, spectrum analyzers, and environmental chambers. Familiarity with ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR 820, IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, and ISO 14971. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Located near our Cincinnati facility for on-site collaboration. Experience mentoring or leading engineering teams. Proficiency with communication protocols (SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, RS-232, RS-485, Ethernet) and wireless technologies (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth).
