Compensation
Base pay range $60.00/hr - $90.00/hr Direct message the job poster from Insight Global Responsibilities
Lead design and execution of I&E scopes for safety-critical projects (SIFs, pSIFs, safety PLCs, DCS integration). Develop project documentation including scope, specifications, design criteria, and test protocols. Perform instrumentation loop design, spec reviews, commissioning, and MITs. Write test documents for technicians and support commissioning/startup activities. Participate in hazard studies and define instrumented safeguards. Conduct SIL calculations and ensure compliance with ISA 61508/61511 and NFPA 70 standards. Support tank overfill protection systems, reverse flow shutoff, and other safety instrumentation. Specify and procure instrumentation (level, pressure, flow, temperature, analyzers, control valves). Collaborate with project managers, process design engineers, mechanical engineers, operators, and production engineers. Manage multiple projects through all stage-gate phases, from FEL to funding and execution. Systems & Tools
Instrumentation : Flow meters, pressure/level/temperature sensors, analyzers, control valves. Electrical : MCCs, 480V and 4160V systems, UPS systems. Platforms : SmartPlant (instrument specs), DCS (Foxboro), Safety PLCs. Qualifications
B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university. 10–15 years of industrial experience in I&E engineering, preferably in
petrochemical or refinery environments . Familiarity with ISA 61508/61511, NFPA 70, and process safety management (PSM). Strong background in instrumentation design, safety systems, and brownfield project execution. PE license preferred but not required. Seniority level
