Overview

As a Residential Account Specialist, you will handle accounting, financial and billing details related to residential portfolio accounts/ledgers. The role interacts with onsite teams and residents, supporting rent administration tasks, delinquencies, and related processes. Excellent customer service is required. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities
Maintain organization and tracking to ensure accurate and timely collection of information, rent, paperwork, delinquency follow-up, and legal processes. Oversee residential portfolio accounting, including late fee reporting, NSF letters, delinquency analysis, balance/credit letters, monthly variance reporting, and end-of-month reporting. Collect, verify, allocate, and deposit rental payments. Travel may be necessary to transport resident payments or to the main office. Review and process Review Refund/Forfeit/Transfer (RFT). Analyze resident ledgers and make necessary adjustments. Educate on-site teams regarding required forms and processes. Communicate with housing agencies/programs to rectify accounts; participate in delinquency review calls. Support property managers with delinquency follow-up and tracking of rental assistance; assist with eviction processes as needed with oversight and approval from PM. Assist in collections for past residents and respond to accounting/ledger questions from residents, commercial tenants, PMs, RPMs, and leasing agents. Maintain regular communication with PMs on property accounting progress and field resident inquiries. Prepare rental verification letters and forms; provide coverage for the ReSolution Team Helpdesk and other team members as needed. Adhere to local, state, and federal laws governing tenant/landlord relations; support rent administration and compliance processes, filings, and rent control activities. Assist with Section 8/voucher/subsidy paperwork and workflow; assist with CAM/Tax/Insurance reconciliation for commercial tenants in the residential portfolio. Assist with commercial lease administration as needed and support senior management on special projects. Maintain flexibility for responsibilities that may change to meet team needs; attendance is essential, and accommodations may be made to support job performance. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of accounting concepts and principles. Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws governing tenant/landlord relations; detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment; able to multi-task and follow through; able to work under pressure. Effective verbal and written communication; able to work well as a team contributor. Ability to respond to others’ needs in a timely and courteous manner. Education And Experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; professional written and verbal communication skills. Strong understanding and application of accounting concepts and principles. Residential property management experience strongly preferred; Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; Yardi experience is a plus. BMC's People First Commitment

The market-based pay range for this role is $57,000 to $59,000 annually plus potential bonus incentives.
