Organization And Position Overview Lilly recently announced a $4.5 billion investment to create the Lilly Medicine Foundry, a new center for advanced manufacturing and drug development. The first-ever facility of its kind, combining research and manufacturing in a single location, the Medicine Foundry will allow Lilly to further develop innovative solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and increase capacity for clinical trial medicines, while also reducing costs and environmental impact.
Role:
The Reliability Engineer increases the reliability of process and utility equipment in support of manufacturing research requirements for capacity, dependability, quality, safety, environmental and costs. As part of the center for advanced manufacturing research, this role contributes directly to the supply of innovative medicines for clinical trials, ensuring that critical equipment and systems perform optimally to enable ground breaking pharmaceutical development. The primary responsibilities are to provide support, direction and domain expertise on equipment reliability issues, review equipment performance to prevent potential reliability issues, and implement reliability monitoring programs to provide maximum availability of equipment. The engineer stays current with technologies for optimal reliability results including analytical methodologies, predictive technologies, and best practices for equipment design, installation, operation, and servicing.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering support to maintenance and equipment owners in your area of expertise.
Ensure maintenance program is appropriate for reliable operation of equipment.
Technical expert in the proper use of the CMMS for documenting equipment history.
Help ensure CMMS data accuracy and structure.
Determine spare parts identification and stocking strategy.
Ensure Job Plans are correct and contain sufficient detail.
Provide training to maintenance personnel on new equipment, reliability principles & techniques.
Mentor process engineers and others on equipment reliability principles and processes.
Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the Maintenance program in the short and medium term.
Participate in and complete HSE & Quality observation/deviations write-ups as appropriate.
Analyze predictive and condition-based monitoring data to identify follow-up actions and prioritize implementation.
Apply techniques such as RCA, RCM, and failure analysis to reduce equipment issues and related costs.
Ensure local maintenance procedures align with Global Engineering Standards and Best Practices, including departmental SOPs.
Determine equipment criticality based on quality, health and safety, mechanical integrity, capacity and financial impact; maintain ranking in the CMMS.
Apply predictive maintenance technologies across the site and assist with data interpretation and corrective actions planning.
Owner of Lilly Medicine Foundry Preventative, Predictive and Corrective Maintenance programs.
Interact with OEMs, vendors, and regulatory bodies to stay current with changes affecting equipment reliability.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Engineering or
HS Diploma or Associate’s degree in a technical field with 10+ years of applicable industrial maintenance and reliability experience
Additional Preferences
Certified Reliability Engineer or Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional
Solid understanding of Maximo/GMARS and Business Objects
Solid understanding of FDA GMPs, ISO standards, deviation management and change controls
Knowledge of automation systems/software to facilitate data collection (e.g., data historians)
Level 1 or higher certifications in predictive technologies (e.g., vibration, thermography, oil analysis, motor current, and ultrasonic)
Training in RCM, FMEA, and/or RCFA facilitation
Six Sigma Green Belt
Knowledge of Weibull analysis, Life Cycle Cost analysis, JMP software, TPM practices
Proficient in English

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is $64,500 - $167,200. Full-time employees are eligible for a company bonus and a comprehensive benefits program including 401(k), pension, vacation, medical/dental/vision, flexible benefits, life insurance, leave benefits, and well-being programs.
