Forensics
practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues. The Role We have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Civil Engineer with interests in forensic investigation, litigation support, risk loss consulting, and retrofit design. This individual will be expected to execute hydrologic and hydraulics analyses for stormwater systems and design remedial repairs for deficient conditions. The investigations include failure cause and origin analysis, life cycle cost and feasibility analyses, risk loss insurance, and claims response, and litigation support. The candidate will also be required to coordinate with project managers on interdisciplinary efforts and support marketing efforts. Responsibilities Conduct forensic investigations of drainage systems, stormwater management facilities, and site grading to determine causes of failure or performance issues Perform site assessments, field inspections, and review design/construction documents to collect and synthesize relevant evidence Prepare comprehensive technical reports detailing findings, analyses, and recommendations for repair or mitigation Complete hydrologic and hydraulics analyses and repair rehabilitation design Requirements Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering 2+ years of field experience Ability and willingness to travel within the US and internationally Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex technical findings to diverse audiences Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, AD&D, Disability and other voluntary benefits Flexible Spending Accounts for Medical & Childcare Paid Time Off, Family Leave for New Parents, Volunteer Time Tuition Reimbursement Commuter Transit (where available) 401k retirement savings with Company matching on employee contributions and/or qualified student loan repayments Fitness Reimbursement And other various wellness, diversity/inclusion and employee resource programs and initiatives Thornton Tomasetti is proud to be an equal employment workplace.
