Overview
This is a full-time expatriate Piping and Valves Engineer role in Saudi Arabia. This role is to join Aramco and support the Global Manufacturing Excellence Team under the Reliability Solutions Department (RSD). RSD provides engineering support to Saudi Aramco Global Manufacturing facilities (Refining, NGL Processing, and Petrochemicals), covering reliability, inspection, corrosion management, static and rotating equipment, electrical equipment, instrumentation and control support. As part of the team, you will provide technical support to operating facilities, projects, and the deployment of new technologies pertaining to piping and valves. You will also conduct technical studies and analyses for piping & valves including stress analysis, hydrotest pressure calculations, rating & de-rating, fitness for service, flange calculations and nozzle/branch calculations. Conduct simple and complex analyses related to the design, specification and applications engineering tasks for Piping & Valves. Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer Piping & Valves packages for reliable, cost-effective, and efficient operation. Investigate Piping & Valves failures to identify root cause(s) and prevent reoccurrence. Participate in HAZOP Studies review. Provide engineering support to repair hydrocarbon leaks, review and approve bolted clamp calculations and designs by leak sealing contractors for field installation. Perform piping mechanical calculations including minimum wall thickness, branch reinforcement, MAWP per ASME B31.3, hydrotest pressure, and de-rating of piping circuits per API 570; fitness-for-service evaluation per API 579; pipe stress analysis (Caesar II); flange calculations (ASME VII1 App 2 with PVElite); nozzle calculations (WRC-107/297) in Caesar II or PVElite. Perform Hot Taps calculations per Aramco standards and API 2201. Provide guidance for on-steam inspection and CML optimization. Develop EWRs by preparing detailed design packages including scope of work, assembly/erection procedures, welding procedures, NDT requirements, material lists, and sketches/drawings. Qualifications
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering; advanced degree is preferable. Minimum of fifteen years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry’s downstream sector, with a minimum of 10 years working with piping & valves. Thorough knowledge of engineering practices and codes/standards (ASME, API, NACE, ASTM, ISO) and use of engineering software. Significant experience in piping stress analysis software (e.g., CAESER II). Knowledge of basic and advanced NDE techniques related to Piping & Valves. Deep understanding of fitness-for-service calculations per API 579. Experience in inspection and failure analysis of Piping & Valves. Fluent in English (spoken and written). Experience in piping vibration analysis is highly desirable. Experience dealing with cement-lined, rubber-lined and non-metallic piping. Working environment
