Overview
Gray AES is seeking to add a
Sr. Electrical Engineer
to its team. The position is based in one of our offices located in Atlanta, GA; Birmingham, AL; Cincinnati, OH; Charlotte, NC; Dallas, TX; Lexington, KY; Louisville, KY or Remote. Responsibilities
Lead electrical engineer on assigned projects, overseeing design scope, technical quality, and code compliance. Develop and validate electrical system designs, including lighting, power, grounding, and low-voltage systems tailored to project and client needs. Perform and review design calculations, energy code compliance assessments, and system performance modeling. Lead the coordination of electrical design with architectural, structural, mechanical, and technology disciplines. Produce and oversee drawings, specifications, and BIM models, ensuring accuracy and integration across project phases. Manage project schedules and budgets related to electrical scope, supporting project managers in planning and execution. Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings, ensuring design intent and quality standards are upheld. Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and site visits, representing the electrical discipline and providing technical leadership. Contribute to the development and refinement of internal design standards and best practices. Mentor junior engineers and designers, fostering technical growth and team collaboration. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from an accredited institution. Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required. 7–10 years of professional experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong background in commercial, industrial, or mission-critical facilities. Proven expertise in electrical systems design, including lighting, power distribution, grounding, lightning protection, telecommunications, and security systems. In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, IBC, and client-specific requirements. Advanced proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM coordination workflows, with experience leading model integration and clash detection. Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead client discussions, present technical concepts, and coordinate across disciplines. Demonstrated ability to manage project deliverables, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to strategic planning and quality assurance.
