Job Description
The Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring proper operations, maintenance, service, and repair of all equipment, supporting Aimbridge Hospitality's goals of guest satisfaction, cost control, and profitability. This role involves overseeing and participating in the Preventative Maintenance program to ensure all rooms and public spaces meet company standards. Management associates are expected to work as much as necessary to fulfill their responsibilities; OEM associates are eligible for overtime, which is calculated accordingly. Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field; or a 2-year college degree with at least 3 years of related experience; or a 4-year college degree with at least 2 years of related experience. Supervisory experience required. Current certifications as mandated by federal, state, or local authorities related to trade requirements (e.g., HVAC, pool operation, electrical), specific to the property. Valid certification and licensing to operate and repair hotel boilers and chillers, as required by law. Valid driver's license for the applicable state. Strong communication skills and ability to convey information clearly. Ability to evaluate options quickly and accurately. Capability to work effectively under stress and high-pressure situations. Ability to handle problems proactively, including anticipating, preventing, and resolving issues. Capacity to assimilate complex information from various sources and adapt as needed. Effective listening and understanding skills to address concerns of coworkers and guests. Basic understanding of financial data and arithmetic functions. Responsibilities
Approach all interactions with guests and employees courteously and service-oriented. Maintain regular attendance in line with company standards, with scheduling based on hotel needs. Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including uniform and name tag compliance. Follow all safety and operational regulations to ensure efficient hotel operations. Complete required certifications such as Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid. Train, supervise, and schedule the hourly Engineering staff. Review staff hours for payroll and submit promptly. Contribute to guest service scores through departmental focus. Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline staff as per standards. Conduct employee performance reviews and interviews following company procedures. Participate in weekly staff meetings and training sessions. Respond to emergency situations using safety data sheets, keeping them current. Establish ongoing training for departments like Housekeeping, Front Desk, and Kitchen. Manage budgets, expenses, and inventory for maintenance supplies. Oversee fire safety inspections and maintain safety standards. Manage energy consumption and conservation efforts. Participate in scheduled MOD coverage. Implement and oversee Preventative Maintenance programs. Inspect and evaluate work of staff and contractors. Handle guestroom maintenance requests promptly. Maintain operational manuals and warranty documents. Respond to alarms and emergencies, reporting findings appropriately. Ensure employees provide friendly, courteous, and helpful service at all times. Attend all staff meetings and represent the department professionally. Maintain open communication with all departments and management. Ensure pool and spa compliance with health codes. Use radio etiquette properly when communicating with staff. Chair Safety Committee and coordinate safety training and drills. Maintain key control systems. Familiarize with organizational structure and department functions. Conduct daily property inspections for cleanliness and safety. Handle Lost and Found items according to standards. Perform additional duties as assigned by the General Manager. Benefits
