Product Development Engineer - Spine (Clinical and Surgeon Support)
Location: Hingham, MA
Salary: $74,200.00-$127,200.00
Responsibilities
Collaborate directly with spine surgeons, distributors, and sales representatives to collect clinical feedback on implants (interbody cages) and surgical instruments.
Observe and understand spine fusion surgical workflows, approaches, and instrumentation use to translate feedback into design improvements.
Lead the design and refinement of spine surgical instruments and implants, applying surgeon input to minimize design iterations and enhance usability and patient safety.
Provide technical support to the sales team during surgeon engagements, product demonstrations, and cadaver labs.
Develop and maintain 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings, ensuring compliance with design standards.
Partner with quality and regulatory colleagues to align designs with applicable standards and requirements.
Support cross-functional teams to bring new spine fusion products from concept to launch.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Strong engineering background with hands-on experience designing spine implants and/or surgical instruments.
Knowledge of spine anatomy, spine fusion surgical workflows, and surgeon instrumentation needs.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or equivalent) and engineering drawing (AutoCAD or equivalent).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with surgeons and sales teams.
Ability to work collaboratively across engineering, sales, regulatory, and quality functions.
More than 3 years of working experience in the same or a similar field.
