is seeking a qualified
Senior Electrical Power Engineer
to help clients develop, contract, and implement natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects while serving as Owner’s Engineer and/or Advisor. The Senior Electrical Power Engineer will work with the national Power Generation team and lead power generation design projects, including supporting traditional Owner’s Engineering roles. Opportunities are available in multiple locations, including Austin, Ann Arbor, Boise, Bismarck, Billings, Charlotte, Chicago, Denver, Irvine, Fort Worth, Houston, Honolulu, Kansas City, Madison, Minneapolis, Missoula, Omaha, Phoenix, Portland, Richmond, Raleigh, Sacramento/Folsom, San Diego, Seattle, Spokane, St. Louis, and Syracuse. Responsibilities
Lead teams for power generation design projects, including support in a traditional Owner’s Engineer role. Apply experience in power generation and distribution, protection and motor control design, power system studies, construction and equipment specification development, and balance-of-plant designs (e.g., raceway, lighting, grounding). Mentor engineers, support client relationships, and lead marketing activities including proposal writing, fee development, and work breakdown structure development in response to requests for proposals. Coordinate with Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management as needed. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Engineering A minimum of 10 years of experience Professional Engineers (PE or P.Eng) license Extensive experience in project execution within the Power Market Sector Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office as well as standard Power Market Sector design software (e.g., PLS CAD, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, AutoPipe, Revit) An active participant in an employee-owned culture Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree ABET-accredited with Electrical Power emphasis Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Control Systems Engineering with Electrical Power emphasis Minimum 15 years of experience in electrical power generation design Design experience with simple cycle and combined cycle power generation Previous experience with an engineering power consulting or EPC firm Excellent communication, written and organizational skills Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently, as a lead on a multi-discipline team, or on a small team Extensive knowledge of three-phase electrical power, protection and control design and settings development, system grounding, and related activities including lighting, instrumentation and control, and life-safety systems Ability to work with the Project Manager and Project Controller on project reviews with management Ability to direct activities of other engineering professionals and mentor staff Less than 10% travel for meetings with clients, vendors, and site visits What We Believe
