Controls Engineer II , you\'ll take ownership of controls projects from start to finish. You will be handling everything from electrical design and programming to installation, troubleshooting, and support. This role requires a solid understanding of modern automation systems, including

PLC, motion control, robotics, and conveyor-based systems . You\'ll work primarily with

Rockwell Automation platforms , including PLCs, servo drives, VFDs, motion controllers, and related components, while also staying current with technologies from other leading suppliers. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Project Ownership

Lead the electrical/controls portion of machine projects, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget. Work independently on assigned tasks, with guidance from senior engineers or the Controls Engineering Manager as needed. Participate in project kickoff meetings and capture technical requirements and expectations. Controls Design & Programming

Design and develop PLC, HMI, robot, barcode, machine vision, and motion control programs based on machine specifications. Build complete electrical schematics and panel layouts using CAD software. Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the ERP system and CAD tools. Program and integrate automation systems including PLCs, HMIs, servo controllers, motion controls, and more. Work with Mechanical Engineers to define the sequence of operations and ensure machine performance through proper sensor and hardware integration. Partner with customers to customize controls solutions that meet specifications and performance expectations. Provide guidance to the Electrical/Mechanical Assembly team to ensure builds meet design intent and quality standards. Testing & Documentation

Set up, test, and debug machines to ensure full functionality. Redline and update electrical drawings during builds and field installations. Archive programs, schematics, and documentation for each shipped machine. Support the Technical Writer by providing all necessary documentation for manuals. Contribute to the development and refinement of programming and documentation standards. Stay current on new technologies and industry best practices to improve design efficiency and machine capabilities. Provide technical support and assistance across departments as needed. Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering preferred (or equivalent experience). 3–5 years of experience in controls/electrical design and programming. Proficiency in writing PLC code from scratch. Experience with system integration and robotic programming is a plus. Strong background in industrial electrical circuit design, including component sizing and selection. Familiarity with applicable standards (NFPA 79, RIA 15.06, UL508A) is preferred. Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%. nVenia
