Overview
CityScape Engineering, LLC is seeking a mid-level Civil Engineer with 5–10 years of experience in land development and/or site design to join our Baltimore team. The Civil Engineer will lead technical site design and permitting tasks on projects including urban infill development, housing & mixed-use redevelopment, green streets, and public parks. Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and a Professional Engineer (PE) license are required. Responsibilities
Lead the design of and prepare drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D, including: existing conditions, demolition, site, grading/drainage, wet utilities, stormwater, and sediment control plans. Produce construction documents, including plan sets, profiles, details, specifications, and cost estimates. Independently perform 3D site grading, develop site and utility profiles, and generate 3D surfaces in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Design and manage land development projects, ensuring compliance with municipal and state regulations. Design ADA-compliant grading, curb ramps, and accessible site layouts. Perform design calculations, prepare technical reports and feasibility studies to support project submissions. Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and permitting requirements. Strong knowledge of Baltimore City and Maryland design codes including the SPRC manual, COB 1972 Design Manual, Developer’s Agreement Manual, MDE Erosion and Sediment Control Manual. Coordinate with regulatory agencies to obtain site development and environmental permits. Conduct fieldwork, site visits, and inspections to support project development and construction. Participate in client meetings, presentations, and community engagement sessions. Review and provide guidance on work prepared by junior engineers and CAD staff. Support Project Managers in maintaining project schedules, budgets, and deliverables. Required Experience and Skills
Education:
BS in Civil Engineering (or equivalent). Licensure:
Professional Engineer (PE) (in the state of Maryland preferred, otherwise ability to secure within 6 months). Experience:
5–10 years of progressive civil engineering experience in site design or land development. Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (site 3D features and plan production). Strong background in land development projects, from concept to permitting. Experience with site permitting requirements and process (local and state). Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite. Soft Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Commitment to integrity, ethics, and high-quality client service. Ability to mentor junior staff and review design work for accuracy. Strong sense of accountability with commitment toward project success. Benefits
