About the role BSI is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Industrial Hygienist to join our dynamic EHS team in the Bay Area (Oakland or San Jose, CA). This entry-level Consulting Specialist – IH role is ideal for individuals with 1–3 years of experience in EHS consulting or corporate EHS, with a strong interest in Industrial Hygiene. In this client-facing role, you will perform exposure assessments, sampling, and monitoring, while supporting compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. You’ll gain hands-on experience across a variety of projects and industries, working alongside experienced consultants in a collaborative environment. Key responsibilities: Conduct exposure assessments, investigations, sampling, and monitoring Support occupational health and safety compliance initiatives Assist with IH/Occupational Health & Safety training and audits Contribute to sustainability and EHS-related projects (energy use, waste, environmental footprint, etc.) Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to clients Collaborate with senior consultants and ergonomic staff on evaluations What we’re looking for: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field 1–3 years of experience in EHS or IH-related work (internships and co-ops count) Experience with IH sampling and monitoring (preferred) Interest in or working toward CIH certification Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively with clients and team members Willingness to travel locally for client-related projects What we offer: BSI offers a competitive salary, group-sponsored health and dental, short-term and long-term disability, a company-matched 401k plan, company paid life insurance, 11 paid holidays and 4 weeks paid time off. The salary for this position can range from $80,800 to $111,100 annually; actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s competencies, level of experience, education, location, divisional budget and internal peer compensation comparisons.
