Advanced Practice Provider, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant - Outpatient Oncology
Join the University of Chicago Medicine as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) for our Outpatient Oncology APP Team. The Advanced Practice Provider will be responsible for comprehensive direct patient care management and will manage a caseload of patients by exercising autonomous decision making in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of delegated medical treatments. The Outpatient Oncology APP Team is an APP-staffed service with the support of a Hematology/Oncology Attending. After an orientation period, the APP will work autonomously and collaboratively with the rest of the APP team, attending, and pharmacist to manage inpatients on the service. Responsibilities
Taking patient history, conducting examinations, diagnosing illness Patient evaluation and ordering and interpreting laboratory tests Ability to exercise autonomy in medical decision-making, provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services Requirements
Master's of Science in Nursing (for Nurse Practitioner) or completion of an accredited (physician assistant) educational program (for Physician Assistant) Current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois RN and APN licensure/registration (for Nurse Practitioner) or certification in ACLS and by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and current and/or eligibility for State of Illinois licensure/registration (for Physician Assistant) Must be certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the ANCC or AANP (for Nurse Practitioner) or certified by the NCCPA (for Physician Assistant) At least 1 year of inpatient experience preferred but not required Previous oncology experience preferred What We Offer
