26.35 - 39.52 HOURLY General Summary

The surgical technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. They understand the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon, ensuring quality patient care and maintaining the sterile field. Responsibilities

Prepares and anticipates additional instrumentation, equipment and supplies for usage during the procedure. Anticipates the needs of the surgeon by passing instruments and supplies during the procedure. Measures and passes medications, hemostatic agents and irrigation solutions used during the procedure. Handles retractors or instruments as directed by the surgeon. Sponges or suctions the operative site. Applies electrocautery to clamps or forceps on bleeders. Cuts suture material as directed by the surgeon. Coordinates the camera or changes out robotic arms/instruments during endoscopic surgery as directed. Maintains the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure. Performs additional counts as necessary. Prepares sterile dressings and/or immobilization devices. Prepares and passes off specimen(s) as appropriate. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Assists other team members with terminal cleaning of the room and prepping the OR for the next patient. Participates in debriefing and quality improvement practices to ensure quality patient care. All other duties as assigned within the scope of job responsibilities. Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience

Education: High School Diploma or GED Credential(s): Basic Life Support (BLS) and CST within 18 months of hire; eligible to obtain certification through either Accredited surgical technology program completion or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Surgical Technology practitioner within the past 5 years Experience: Preferred: 1 year of hospital experience Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience
