Mountain Laurel Medical Center . Under the general management of the Behavioral Health Manager, a neuropsychologist is responsible for the clinical evaluation, validated testing, and testing interpretation for patients within the scope of practice of Maryland and West Virginia. Responsibilities
Work with the Behavioral Health Manager, Medical Director of Behavioral Health, and support staff to provide neuropsychological testing and related behavioral health services as needed. Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct thorough assessments of mental health conditions, including testing of intelligence, academic ability, attention, concentration, sensorimotor function, language, learning, and memory; interview patients to obtain medical, developmental, and psychological histories; assess pediatric populations for learning disabilities and geriatric populations for neurocognitive disorders. Formulate accurate diagnoses based on clinical evaluations and testing in collaboration with other healthcare professionals. Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans and make referrals based on evidence-based practices. Collaboration and Consultation: Provide consultation to other healthcare team members; participate in department meetings, town halls, and committee work as invited. Education and Support: Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies; supervise practicum students, psychology interns, or other staff when applicable. Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes; prepare detailed clinical neuropsychological reports using test data and clinical observations. Continuing Education: Stay current with neuropsychology developments; participate in MLMC programs, payer contracts, and educational activities; uphold ethical standards and MLMC values. Qualifications
PhD in psychology or PsyD with a two-year post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology; national exam completion required; state-specific requirements as applicable. Minimum two years of direct psychological services experience preferred; experience in a community health care center is desirable. Current BLS certification required; ACLS/ATLS/PALS encouraged. Understanding of healthcare laws and HIPAA; ability to follow medical records policies and procedures. Strong problem-solving, interpretation, and communication skills; ability to work in a team-based, patient-centered care model. Ability to read and interpret medical and work-related documents; strong written and verbal communication abilities. Sensitivity to diverse populations and commitment to cultural competence. Physical demands align with a typical outpatient clinic; ability to drive and assist patients as needed. Work Environment
