Responsibilities
Non-certified Surgical Technologist is an integral member of the surgical team, responsible for assisting surgeons and other healthcare professionals during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. This role requires a high level of skill in sterile technique, equipment operation, and teamwork to ensure patient safety and the efficient completion of surgical procedures. Prepare the operating room and patient for the surgical procedure by applying principles and techniques of asepsis; set up sterile equipment, instruments, drapes and solutions; assist with scrubbing, preparation of sterile field, gowning/gloving members of the surgical team. Provide safe handling and care for instruments and specimens in accordance with internal procedures. Set up the operating surgeon’s sterile table, including instrument setup, cleanup and turnover for the next case. Operate sterilization devices (including immediate-use containment devices, autoclaves, and other sterilizers) following manufacturers’ instructions. Understand sterilizer challenge devices and sterilizer biological indicators and their appropriate use, monitoring and tracking. Identify emergencies (e.g., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Code 9, and other medical emergencies) and initiate and/or participate in the appropriate response. Stock and replenish the operating room, preparing it with new sterile items and checking equipment to ensure proper function for the next surgery. Perform related duties as required. Qualifications
Job Requirements Graduation from a surgical technology program accredited through the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology (ARC-ST). If classified as Surgical Technician: Maintain Registration with the State of Washington. Registered nurses and/or practical nurses acting within the scope of their licensure do not need to maintain surgical technologist registration. NCCT certification. If classified as Surgical Technician, Certified: Current certification through the Association of Surgical Technologists is required. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification. Pay and Employment Details
