Overview
We are seeking an established leader and drug hunter for the R&D Chemistry group. The role drives the discovery of multi-modality antibody conjugate drug therapeutics and expands Regeneron’s small molecule and peptidomimetic capabilities. The candidate will lead SAR optimization, bioconjugation strategies, and ensure that chemical biology and biology solutions are integrated to develop novel antibody-targeted therapeutics. A strong, collaborative leadership style and ability to drive cross-functional teams are essential.
Responsibilities
Directly supervise and manage the day-to-day activities of the R&D Chemistry group, setting vision, goals, and communicating priorities to the team.
Perform medicinal chemistry SAR-driven optimization of novel small molecule and peptidomimetic modalities to optimize in vitro and in vivo properties.
Champion and lead R&D chemistry efforts on multiple internal/external project teams, with the ability to multi-task and advance the pipeline of Regeneron development candidates.
Identify new strategies and technologies to advance synthesis and bioconjugation of small molecule and peptidomimetic modalities.
Set priorities and accelerate the progression of the group’s technology and pipeline projects.
Participate in departmental, cross-functional, senior leadership, and external meetings to represent the goals and vision of the R&D Chemistry group.
Collaborate broadly with other Regeneron groups to build relationships and active partnerships.
Mentor and develop the R&D Chemistry team, providing opportunities and visibility for members.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry (or related field) with extensive drug discovery experience in antibody-targeted small molecule and peptidomimetic modalities, including synthesis and manufacturing.
Expertise in modern medicinal chemistry SAR and understanding of MOAs, target evaluation, ADME/PK, PD/efficacy, and tox evaluation.
Minimum of 10 years of industry experience; track record of advancing molecules into the clinic and leading teams; experience collaborating with internal and external organizations (e.g., CROs).
Strong communication, collaboration, and leadership skills aligned with cross-functional teamwork.
Benefits and Culture Regeneron maintains an inclusive and diverse culture with comprehensive benefits, which may include health and wellness programs, fitness centers, equity awards, annual bonuses, and paid time off for eligible employees at all levels.
