Overview
Ramboll is actively seeking a Mechanical Engineer in our Binghamton, NY office. The selected candidate will be expected to work across a wide range of mechanical engineering knowledge areas with a focus on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC). Responsibilities
Perform design and engineering work in various areas of the mechanical discipline, with primary focus on HVAC and additional work in industrial piping, plumbing, central utility plants, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, steam systems, and fire protection. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to produce final construction drawings and details for mechanical projects. Develop conceptual designs and cost estimates for early project life cycle stages. Create design drawings utilizing Revit 3D design software. Conduct or participate in investigative energy assessments to identify energy and cost-saving measures. Assess and design building ventilation systems based on heat removal requirements in industrial spaces and to maintain indoor air quality. Perform spreadsheet analyses to evaluate energy and cost savings of proposed energy conservation measures (ECMs). Use building modeling software (HAP or Trane Trace) to determine envelope heat gains/losses and assess ECM savings potentials. Specify mechanical equipment and design plumbing and building utility piping systems. Summarize engineering results in cohesive written reports and/or presentations. Visit job sites as required for projects involving upfits of existing systems, with a mix of day trips and overnight domestic travel. Adhere to Ramboll’s Project Execution Manual policies and standards. Promote and maintain a safe working environment by following Ramboll’s Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures. B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or higher 5+ years of experience in engineering and design of HVAC systems Licensed professional engineer strongly preferred Ability to foster a creative engineering environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work across a wide range of areas within the mechanical engineering discipline Strong computer skills in the Microsoft Office suite Experience with AutoCAD and Revit design software preferred Work Environment & Equality
