This role leads a transformative effort to drive productivity, innovation, and economic performance across the Firm’s legal practices, serving as a bridge between attorneys, operational teams, and technology stakeholders. The focus is on smarter workflows, intelligent automation, and data‑driven practice strategies, with responsibility for AI and other emerging technologies and for managing the Firm’s portfolio of AI tools. Responsibilities
Analyze and improve attorney and practice team workflows to enhance productivity and reduce friction points. Identify opportunities for automation, delegation, and redesign of legal processes. Drive adoption and integration of AI tools, including generative AI, to streamline legal work and knowledge reuse. Analyze operational workflows and develop strategies to increase effectiveness and efficiency using legal technologies. Pilot, scale, and evaluate tools that enhance client service delivery, matter management, and internal collaboration. Stay informed on emerging trends in legal technology, AI, and knowledge management; act as a bridge between legal and technology domains. Coordinate pilot and proof-of-concept programs, including drafting specifications, evaluating software, and testing products and services. Recommend strategic deployment of efficient processes, technology-related policies, software tools, and training programs in collaboration with IT and Firm leadership. Work with Practice Management and internal communications to develop effective campaigns and change measurement for practice groups. Collaborate with other innovation teams to define objectives, success metrics, and timelines for legal technology adoption initiatives. Lead or participate in major projects that increase the tangible value of department services to clients, attorneys, timekeepers, and the Firm. Qualifications
Juris Doctor (JD), LLM, or non-US equivalent; admission to a relevant state bar or in-house counsel status as applicable. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, or related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred. MBA or equivalent business qualification is a plus. Minimum of 5–10 years of relevant experience in project management, legal practice, legal operations, or technology roles, preferably in large law firms or technology/AI domains. Experience supporting cross‑functional projects involving legal technology, knowledge management, technology teams, and practice group leadership. Experience with legal technology adoption, legal innovation, or practice operations; PMO design and multi‑phased strategic planning is preferred. Experience with alternative legal service providers/models (e.g., document review teams) is a plus. Strong budgeting experience and familiarity with large-scale budgets is preferred. Understanding of AI/ML technologies and their business impact; interest in legal tech and innovation. Familiarity with core legal technologies (e.g., iManage, NetDocs, Elite 3E, Intapp, Litera, Thomson Reuters, Lexis, Kira, Harvey, CoCounsel, ServiceNow) or similar platforms; generative AI experience preferred. Understanding of IT infrastructure, software development, data management, cybersecurity, and AI best practices. Ability to leverage technology usage data and metrics for insights and storytelling; strategic thinker who can translate business goals into actionable technology roadmaps in a legal setting.
