This position can be based in either our Nashua, NH or Burlington, MA office, both part of the Greater Boston Area. IMEG, one of the largest design consulting firms in the U.S., seeks a Senior Surveyor to provide leadership in daily survey operations including construction layout, boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys. The Senior Surveyor will be responsible for production surveying duties, applying diversified knowledge of land surveying principles and practices, and providing surveying assistance under leadership from a Senior Land Surveyor. This role also involves calculations and surveying judgment based on experience, documented practices, systems, and examples. Key duties and responsibilities: Perform complex survey duties associated with construction stakeout and boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys Research historic maps, land records, previous surveys, and land title reports Complete boundary reductions, boundary determinations, and mapping/topographic field reductions in CAD/survey software Maintain and verify accuracy of project survey data and manage company standards survey database; review survey production and final products, processed data collection, and field notes for quality control Proficiency with survey computations, staking/control exhibits, and survey crew instructions for construction staking and field survey projects Operate GPS equipment, total stations, levels, data collectors and other survey equipment Supervise CAD Techs in preparing plans and plats describing in detail the surveys performed Advance professional and productive working relationships with clients and coworkers Prepare proposals, scopes of work, schedules, budgets and mentor and assist in training junior staff members Operate a company vehicle Observe safety and security procedures Key skills and abilities needed for the position: Advanced knowledge of land surveying operations, computations, principles and practices Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans and construction documents Knowledge and ability to effectively deal with public and governmental agencies, manage field crews, and schedule equipment and supplies Proficient in on-site office operation, office workflow processes and problem-solving techniques Advanced understanding of survey operations and identification of potential problems Proficient with AutoCAD Civil 3D, survey, GPS, MS Office software Advanced problem-solving techniques Proven people management and leadership capabilities Possesses oral and written communication skills Ability to effectively communicate with clients, officials, contractors, coworkers and professionally represent IMEG Valid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier Advanced/proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook Education and experience requirements: Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree or Associate of Science (AS) Degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred 8 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry preferred Land Surveyor (LS) License required This position is not eligible for sponsorship IMEG, an employee-owned corporation, is committed to investing in employees' futures through professional development programs and opportunities for career advancement.
