Overview
Assistant Structural Engineer - Power (Denver) at Burns & McDonnell. The role supports project teams under supervision of a licensed professional engineer to create designs for a variety of projects including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government and military facilities. The Assistant Structural Engineer assists throughout the design and construction process, adapting structural plans to meet budget constraints, design factors, or client needs. Responsibilities
Assist in the structural design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion. Assist with modifying and reviewing production drawings for diverse projects including power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, governmental, and military facilities. Assist in designing structural components to meet project needs and requirements set by project managers. Apply basic knowledge of commonly used structural engineering concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures. Assist with researching and compiling project-related data as required by project managers. Assist with correcting and updating drawings provided by senior engineers to verify corrections across CAD software. Assist with client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for the design of power, process, pipeline, industrial, healthcare, airports, educational institutions, commercial, and governmental/military facilities. Assist in performing field inspections, measurements or calculations for public and private clients. Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards. Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Structural Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program OR Bachelor Degree in Structural or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program with successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred. Basic knowledge of standard structural engineering techniques, principles and procedures. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment and demonstrated critical thinking skills. Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite). Basic computer skills include structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA), AutoCAD and BIM (e.g., Revit and Tekla). Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem solving skills. Demonstrated leadership skills. Engineers in Training (EIT) certification preferred. Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred. Involvement on campus or in the community preferred. Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located. $71,500.00 - $110,000.00 Yearly The expected compensation range is displayed in compliance with local/state regulations and is based on factors including education, qualifications, prior experience, and location. The total compensation includes base salary plus eligibility for discretionary year-end incentive bonuses.
