Job Description

The Quality Engineer will efficiently utilize inspection equipment, statistical analysis tools, SPC, and other systems to ensure the quality of our products. The role involves developing methods for controlling the quality of new products and revised versions of existing products to increase customer value and satisfaction, ultimately enhancing sales revenue, profits, and cash flow.

Responsibilities

Work with production to audit the assembly of pumps and pump products, recommending improvements. Perform quality audits of products received to evaluate their performance against defined specifications, including component inspections and product testing. Evaluate pumps returned from the field to understand failure modes and develop short- and long-term resolutions. Develop resolutions for pump and product issues, collaborating with customers and team members to find the best solution. Conduct root-cause analysis to isolate and prevent recurrence of product issues. Partner with Supply Chain to develop new product specifications and solve existing product problems. Provide advanced quality engineering support, using lean quality techniques to drive business growth. Publish evaluation reports of products and components and present findings across functions. Oversee inspection of electrical motors, wiring, and controls using precision electrical instrumentation. Perform mechanical inspections using precision instruments such as micrometers and depth gauges. Develop and maintain a companywide gage calibration database. Collaborate with all functional disciplines to meet production requirements while maintaining quality standards. Utilize the ERP tool for customer information, order details, BOMs, inventory locations, and costs. Use assembly tools such as torque wrenches and electric drills for product evaluation. Participate in companywide continuous improvement and quality efforts. Ensure daily work is conducted safely in compliance with OSHA standards. Responsibilities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time.

Essential Skills

Root cause analysis Corrective action plans Quality engineering and assurance Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, MS Excel, ERP, and CMM Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, electrical, or similar engineering discipline 3 to 5 years of quality experience in a manufacturing or similar environment Knowledge of ISO 9000 and quality systems Good communication skills, verbal and written Attention to detail

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Previous knowledge of centrifugal pumps is a plus Ability to use MS Outlook and MS Word Travel to customers, suppliers, and company facilities required Experience in cross-functional teams Positive, can-do attitude with skills in consensus-building and influencing others Awareness of industry quality standards and best practices

This is a fully onsite position.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of New Haven, Connecticut.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $45.00/hr.
